Multiply Numbers Close Together

Multiply two numbers that are close to each other using base method

CATSSC

For numbers near a base (10, 50, 100, etc.)

Formula

For A, B near base: (A+d_B) × base + (d_A × d_B)

How It Works

0

Find differences from the base

1

Cross-add: One number + other's difference

2

Multiply the differences for right part

Examples

📝 13 × 12 (base 10): 13+2=15 or 12+3=15 → 15×10 + 3×2 = 150+6 = 156

📝 98 × 97 (base 100): 98-3=95 → 95×100 + 2×3 = 9500+6 = 9506
